1. The compilation pipeline
   source (.c) -> preprocessor -> compiler -> assembler -> linker -> executable
   Commands worth knowing: gcc -E, gcc -S, gcc -c, gcc -o

2. Data types
   char, int, float, double, plus short/long/unsigned variants.
   sizeof() reports the byte size of a type on the current platform.

3. Variables and operators
   Declaration vs. definition, arithmetic/relational/logical/bitwise operators,
   implicit conversions between types (the usual arithmetic conversions).

4. printf / scanf
   Format specifiers: %d %f %c %s %p %x, width/precision modifiers like %.2f.
